Initiated as a collaboration with Pilebyg / Moow - The largest producer of Willow and willow fences in Denmark. With support from Boligfonden Kuben a research was made into the utilization of waste stream materials from the willow fence production in Hjørring(DK) at the main production area of Pilebyg. Willow is a versatile wooden plant that carries a deep cultural link in human history and manufacturing of handmade goods. The willow fence is a development of a classic rural fence structure woven between poles. After harvest the willow is debarked and woven in structure leaving a large amount of wood chips as leftover material. By adding the waste stream of willow into a circular loop of recycling the mycelium acts as a restructured waste deposit of biomass adding to the allready co2 negative production of the willow. the mycelium grows actively on both the stem and bark of the willow, thriving in a high ph and nutrient rich environment.
