Myx chair
Mycelium boards interacts by firstly growing in a corrugated construction similar to cardboard - with a top and bottom layer casing a fluted and wavy layer in the same direction. By combining layers of hemp matts in 10mm thickness it is possible to grown open structures which maximizes the air circulation in the inoculated materials thereby enhancing the outer skin structure of the mycelium organism. After full colonization the boards are placed in a standing position, aligned with sections combined into a full chair and placed for fixation and rehabilitation of mycelium surfaces. The boards grow and combine into a solid structure by assembling through a method of self-lamination, where each board interacts with eachother. Developed in 2019-2020 as a part of the Mindcraft 2020 Exhibition, exhibited and acquired by the Danish Design Museum 2020
